Cheers to Really Expanding on the Pet Lifestyle Experience

On August 23rd and 24th the truly fashionable will arrive in New York, New York to celebrate and view fashion not for the two-legged type, but instead for the four-legged and furry variety. Over 200 of the pet industry’s most innovative companies will set the stage for the third annual Pet Fashion Week NY. This year, the lifestyle tradeshow will feature the renowned PFW Buyer Runway Shows, the ECOuture Charity Fundraiser and the PFW Awards Program. It will also feature ready-to-wear collections and couture creations from twelve of the world’s best pet fashion designers in time for the fall/holiday buying season.

Pet Fashion Week NY offers the discriminating pet industry buyer the best collection of pet products in one place. This year, the lifestyle tradeshow will also feature two new segments, The Grooming Galleria and Design on 4. The Grooming Galleria is the essential program for pet styling and will feature companies offering the best in pet styling products, such as scissors, shears, salon equipment and salon design. The Design on 4 will celebrate originality and design within the pet industry by showcasing designers and international companies new to the US market.

The ECOuture Charity Fundraiser will combine environmental responsibility with fashion and fundraising in an effort to encourage the pet industry to make eco-friendly business decisions. The objective is to provide assistance to animal shelters by offering a reliable business opportunity. Guests including manufacturers, designer and retailers, will be encouraged to donate product inventory to The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. The Mayor’s Alliance will then distribute the products to shelters, allowing them to raise vital funds through end-consumer sales, silent auctions and raffles. The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, Inc., was founded by the ASPCA, Animal Haven, The Humane Society of NY, Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition (BARC), Arts for Animals and City Critters, and is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. It formed a public-private partnership with the City of New York to develop creative solutions to deal with issues of animal care and control in New York City. The alliance is bringing together all not-for-profit animal care groups, small and large, who are already working effectively to place and/or spay and neuter New York City's dogs and cats. Through the alliance’s multi-year program, it helps these groups reach their highest potential. The newest award added to the PFW Awards Program for 2008, gives eight internationally ranked pet stylists the opportunity to take part in The Les Poochs Poodle Challenge, an invitational competition that will explore the future of pet styling. The competition will focus on the return of artistically designed and sculpted patterns on Poodles coats. Stylists will be competing for over $70,000 in prizes.
In January 2008, Pet Fashion Week NY brought select international designers to Tokyo, Japan and delighted audiences with an amazing show, and this is sure to be an equally amazing event.
